Article: Main Street West Virginia Banquet Honors Successful 2006 Programs

CHARLESTON - The Main Street West Virginia annual banquet included a total of $50,000 in awards and honors May 2 at the Embassy Suites.

The event celebrated successful 2006 projects by 13 certified Main Street programs throughout the state.

Gov. Joe Manchin, who hosted the awards, said Main Street West Virginia and the designed communities work to revitalize downtown areas, and as the banquet theme said, the communities We on the road to success.

Main Street Charleston East End took the prize in the large community category and Main Street Philippi in the small community group in the design category. Each received $4,000.
