Article: Governor Rell Renews Call for Cap on Gross Receipts Tax, Calls for Halt to Scheduled July Rise

The Connecticut Republican Party issued the following news release:

With gas prices jumping 33 percent in recent months, Governor M. Jodi Rell today once again urged the state legislature to act on her proposal to cap the gross receipts tax on gasoline and other petroleum products when the wholesale price is at $1.75 a gallon.

'I am also calling for the scheduled July 1 increase in this tax to be rolled back,' Governor Rell said. 'We are ramping up the pressure on the federal government to investigate the recent price spikes, but at the same time there are actions we can take at the state level to ease the burden for our consumers and businesses.
