Washington, May 22 -- NASA's Mars Spirit rover has unearthed further evidence to suggest that Mars had a much wetter past than what is now believed.
Chemical analysis of a patch of Martian soil has found the composition to be about 90 percent pure silica - a sure sign that water once existed on Mars - as such a concentrated deposit of silica requires the presence of water.
According to the researchers, this has been the strongest evidence yet of Mars being a much wetter planet than it is now.
