Assemblyman William A. Barclay, R-Pulaski (124th District), issued the following press release:
During the month of April each year, child abuse awareness activities and community prevention programs are promoted across the country in order to educate parents, neighbors and school officials on ways to prevent, identify and report cases of child abuse. This column is my effort to raise awareness of this tragic problem.
Under New York law, there are four types of child abuse--physical abuse, physical neglect, sexual abuse and emotional abuse. While not all the causes of child abuse are known, studies have indicated that there are several factors that put children at risk for abuse. Although ...
