NEW DELHI, India, May 27 -- As a child, Avinash used to spend hours debating whether to eat eggs or bread first for his breakfast. Twenty five years since, he leans over scattered brochures of various investment options, unable to make up his mind yet.

At a time when mutual funds shove in their products and banks lure customers with higher interests on fixed deposits, it is only natural that investors like Avinash have a tough time deciding on where to put their money.
