WILDWOOD - Plans to develop the city's former back bay landfill are moving in the right direction despite the lengthy process involved, Lou Ferrara, the city's development director, said Tuesday.
Nearly five years have passed since the city designated the area between Susquehanna Avenue and the bay as being in need of redevelopment.
Since then, the city has approved a redevelopment plan for the 30-acre site and named K. Hovnanian as its developer.
K. Hovnanian initially planned to build 220 homes, including 154 cottage homes, 22 garden homes and 44 town homes, on the site, but in 2006 the developer said environmental studies required a change in those initial plans.
