Article: Sen. Harkin Introduces Preventive Medicine, Public Health Training Act

WASHINGTON, May 29 -- Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has introduced the Preventive Medicine and Public Health Training Act (S. 1120), legislation that would "amend the Public Health Service Act to provide grants for the training of graduate medical residents in preventive medicine and public health."

The bill, introduced on April 17, was co-sponsored by Sens. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia; Jeff Bingaman, D-New Mexico; and Joe Lieberman, ID-Connecticut. It was referred to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
