Article: Sen. Pryor Introduces Secure Handling of Ammonium Nitrate Act

WASHINGTON, June 6 -- Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Arkansas, has introduced the Secure Handling of Ammonium Nitrate Act of 2007 (S. 1463), legislation that would "authorize the Secretary of Homeland Security to regulate the sale of ammonium nitrate to prevent and deter the acquisition of ammonium nitrate by terrorists."

The bill, introduced on May 23, was co-sponsored by Sens. Thad Cochran, R-Mississippi; Larry Craig, R-Idaho; Pat Roberts, R-Kansas; Charles E. Schumer, D-New York; and Saxby Chambliss, R-Georgia. It was referred to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
