WASHINGTON, June 7 -- Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, has introduced the Iran Human Rights Act of 2007 (S. 1534), legislation that would "hold the current regime in Iran accountable for its human rights record and to support a transition to democracy in Iran."
The bill, introduced on May 25, was co-sponsored by Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Indiana. It was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
