Article: REP. CANNON INTRODUCES H R 2453 PROHIBITING FUTURE DISCRIMINATORY CAR RENTAL EXCISE TAXES

Rep. Christopher B. Cannon, R-Utah (3rd CD), issued the following news release:

Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT) yesterday introduced H R 2453 prohibiting future discriminatory car rental excise taxes and protecting the rights of all car rental customers.

"Discriminatory taxes are a form of tax exportation on consumers. Government should not pick the pockets of consumers to fund something completely unrelated. When asked 'why climb Everest' George Mallory responded, 'because it is there'. When government is asked 'why tax this' the answer should never be, 'because it is there'. "
