Article: Rep. Davis Introduces Resolution Recognizing Historical Significance of Juneteenth Independence Day

WASHINGTON, June 13 -- Rep. Danny K. Davis, R-Illinois, has introduced a resolution (H.Con.Res. 155) "recognizing the historical significance of Juneteenth Independence Day, and expressing the sense of Congress that history should be regarded as a means for understanding the past and more effectively facing the challenges of the future."

The resolution, introduced on May 23, was co-sponsored by 56 representatives. It was referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
