Article: U.S., French Inventors Develop Aluminum Alloy with Improved Ductility

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 13 -- Alex Cho of Charleston, W.Va., Vic Dangerfield of Parkersburg, W.Va., Bernard Bes of Seyssins, France, and Timothy Warner of Voreppe, France, have developed an aluminum alloy with improved strength and ductility.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the invention relates to an "aluminum alloy having improved strength and ductility, comprising: copper 3.5 to 5.8 weight (wt.) %, mangnesium 0.1 to 1.8 wt. % manganese 0.1 to 0.8 wt. % Silver 0.2 to 0.8 wt. % titanium 0.02 to 0.12 wt. % and optionally one or more selected from the group consisting of chromium 0.1 to 0.8 wt. %, hafnium 0.1 to 1.0 wt. %, scandium 0.03 0.6 wt. %, and vanadium 0.05 0.15 ...
