WASHINGTON, June 19 -- Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, D-Hawaii, has introduced the Ballast Water Management Act of 2007 (S. 1578), legislation that would "amend the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990 to establish vessel ballast water management requirements."

The bill, introduced on June 7, was co-sponsored by Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska. It was referred to the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
