First Lt. Lawrence San Juan said on Thursday that his decision to plead guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit coup d'état before the Makati Regional Trial Court was voluntary.
At the hearing called by the court and the defense counsels of his co-accused, Makati RTC Judge Oscar Pimentel asked San Juan if he was coerced into making the decision.
"I believe that I committed conspiracy to commit coup d'état," said the junior officer who was involved in the failed 2003 Oakwood mutiny.
San Juan added that he arrived at his decision while in solitary confinement after he was rearrested by the authorities early last year.
