Article: Judge refuses to keep Millville from punishing police officers

BRIDGETON - Four Millville police officers remained on the hook Monday after a judge tossed out a lawsuit they filed to prevent the city from punishing them for allegedly harassing a gay colleague.

The officers - Millville Police Chief Ronald Harvey; his son, Sgt. Michael Harvey; and two lieutenants, Edward Zadroga and Thomas Romanishin - argued in court papers that a statutory 45-day deadline for bringing charges against them had passed.

At a hearing Monday morning, however, Superior Court Judge G. Thomas Bowen dismissed the officers' lawsuit, saying that courts do not deal with hypothetical situations.
