Article: WINDY RIDGE, APES' HEADQUARTERS AND FOREST CAMPGROUNDS OPEN IN TIME FOR JULY 4TH HOLIDAY

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's U.S. Forest Service unit - Gifford Pinchot National Forest - issued the following press release:

Many campgrounds, roads, and lower-elevation trails on the Forest are open in time for the July 4th holiday. Recently opened on the east side of the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Forest Road 99 provides access to Windy Ridge Interpretive Site, the closest point visitors can drive to the crater. Near Windy Ridge, the Mount St. Helens Concessions at Cascade Peaks viewpoint offers food, drinks, recreation passes, and a gift shop.
