ACROSS DENTISTRY TODAY, we are seeing the impact of advanced technology on the way dental professionals treat patients. In the dental office, our clients are using new technologies such as digital x-rays, chairside milling units, and hard and soft tissue lasers. In the future, more options including digital impression taking will be offered.
In the dental laboratory, we are also benefiting from these advanced technologies. This is most evident in the explosion of CAD/CAM technologies. There are over 15 different laboratory CAD/CAM systems, available to laboratories today, all requiring significant capital investment. To say that the decision is "intimidating" is an understatement.
