Men who use acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or aspirin are at an increased risk of developing hypertension compared with nonusers (P≤.05 for all comparisons), according to the results of a large, retrospective, easecontrolled study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
The patient cohort used in this study was a subset of the 51,529 male health professionals enrolled in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. Patients were excluded if they had a baseline diagnosis of hypertension or were using an antihypertensive medication.
