WINNIPEG'S French Quarter Business Improvement Zone wants to change its name because St. Boniface just isn't as exciting as the French Quarter in New Orleans.

This is no joke. In a rare example of honesty trumping hucksterism, the French Quarter BIZ wants to change its name to the Provencher Boulevard BIZ because the current name leads tourists who wander over the Red River to expect a plethora of quaint restaurants and shops that don't exist.

To that end, the BIZ has formally asked city council to allow the organization to say au revoir to Quartier Francais.
