OTTAWA -- A new poll suggests the likelihood of another world war sits heavy on the minds of many Canadians.

At the same time, the Canadian Press-Decima Research survey indicates a majority of Canadians reject the prospect of their country becoming part of the United States.

The online poll found that 46 per cent of respondents thought there will be another world war within the next 50 years.

Almost one-in-four said they think it will happen in less than 100 years, while 13 per cent thought it would take longer than that. Seventeen per cent said it would never happen.
