FIRE DAMAGES BUSINESSES IN DOWNTOWN PALO ALTO

The Palo Alto Police Department issued the following news release:

At 9:35pm on July 1st, 2007, several fire alarms were received for the building located at 310 University Ave. 50 firefighters from Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara County responded to the blaze that damaged four businesses that occupied 310 University Ave. Palo Alto Police evacuated the area and closed off the 300 block of University Ave, as well as the 500 Block of Bryant St. The fire caused damage to the entire second floor and caused a roof collapse. The building was unoccupied and no injuries were reported because of the fire.
