WASHINGTON STATE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION INVITES PUBLIC TO CELEBRATE HOLIDAY AT STATE PARK, BUT LEAVE FIREWORKS AT HOME

The Washington state Parks and Recreation Commission issued the following news release:

The Fourth of July holiday is one of tradition and enjoying the great outdoors. The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to celebrate the holiday at a state park, but leave the fireworks at home. Fireworks are prohibited at state parks and on beaches that front state park lands.

Many state parks are nestled in forests, where dry timber can fuel wildfires. For safety reasons and to help prevent fires, fireworks are prohibited in state parks.
