Article: FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD FIRE MOP-UP TEAM SUPPORTS FIREFIGHTERS

The National Guard issued the following news release:

Thirty Florida National Guard Soldiers have been dispatched today to work behind firefighters battling fires bordering Camp Blanding and Bradford County, Joint Training Center, southwest of Jacksonville.

Ground training for the team was conducted for three days at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, southwest of Jacksonville, by the Florida Division of Forestry and was designed to prepare Soldiers for support to forestry as mop-up crews, working behind the forestry professionals who actively fight the wildfires.

A second team of 30 Soldiers is scheduled to begin training Wednesday at Camp Blanding.
