Rep. Dale Kildee, D-Mich. (5th CD), issued the following news release:
Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that $3.9 million has been secured for the dredging of the Saginaw River between Bay City and the City of Saginaw. The House passed the Fiscal Year 2008 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill, which would fund the dredging of the Saginaw River. The waterway has been an essential lifeline for regional commerce.
The House passed the bill today funding the project at the full amount requested by Congressman Kildee who had conferred with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. President Bush had requested only $2.1 million.
