Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Texas (17th CD), issued the following press release:
Congressman Chet Edwards announced that that he has secured $3 million for two national research programs at Texas A&M. The funding, at Edwards' request, was included in the 2008 Energy and Water Appropriations bill, which passed by the House Tuesday 312-112.
Edwards secured $2 million to support the Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI) at Texas A&M. The Institute was formally created in March of 2006 by the Texas A&M University Board of Regents as a joint initiative of the Nuclear Engineering Department and the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
