Article: Zero tolerance policy for illegal fireworks in neighborhoods

DEARBORN - As Independence Day approaches, Dearborn residents and businesses should be aware that the Dearborn Police Department will be continuing its "zero tolerance" policy regarding the illegal and unsafe sale and use of fireworks.

"Each year, we see cases of personal injury and damage to property when people use illegal fireworks," said Chief of Police Michael Celesti. "City ordinances prohibit the sale and use of illegal fireworks, or the unsafe use of legal fireworks. We strongly recommend that the public avoid personal fireworks and instead attend a professionally-produced fireworks display, like those offered at Greenfield Village or at Homecoming."
