Article: Sensex hits new high of 15,733

Mumbai, July 23 -- After trading flat for most part of the day, markets gained momentum in the last hour of trade here today, with the Sensex hitting a new high of 15,773 points.

The benchmark index ended the day at 15,732 levels, up 1.1 per cent or 166 points. In the broader markets, the Nifty firmed up 1.2 per cent or 53 points to end the day at 4,619 levels.

Leading the charge at the Sensex were Larsen and Toubro and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. They zoomed 7.8 per cent and 7.1 per cent respectively. Hindustan Unilever at Rs 204 levels moved up five per cent on reports of the company mulling a buyback in ...
