Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa (1st CD), has issued the following statement:

Rep. Bruce Braley released the following statement regarding today's increase in the federal minimum wage, the first since 1997:

"An increase in the minimum wage is long overdue and represents a new direction for Iowa working families. Over 250,000 Iowans will see an increase in their incomes when the minimum wage is $7.25.

"I'm proud that Iowa led the way in March by increasing the state minimum wage. Now, people across the country will receive a much-needed raise.
