Kass Fleisher and MicheUe Naka Pierce first met at Naropa University around the year 2000, when Fleisher was a faculty member for the Summer Writing Program; Pierce was, and stiU is, core faculty and director of the writing center. Fleisher s article, "Reforming Creative Writing Pedagogy: History as Knowledge, Knowledge as Activism" (co-written with Joe Amato), had just been pubhshed in electronic book review (2001).
