The South Carolina Department Parks, Recreation and Tourism issued the following news release:
Carving golf balls out of wood, making baskets out of kudzu, shopping coupons and local food favorites - including grits - are just some of the surprises awaiting travelers when they stop at South Carolina's nine Welcome Centers during National Tourism Week.
Set this year for May 12-20, National Tourism Week was established by Congress in 1983. Each year, the Welcome Centers participate by inviting local merchants, artisans, motels, merchants and tourism attractions to come by and meet and greet travelers in the Palmetto State.
