If the teaching of emotive and controversial issues in history is to be more extensive and effective, it is axiomatic that the status quo will not lead to that eventual outcome. Many of the opportunities and examples of good practice need to be communicated more effectively and the impediments addressed through relevant actions. It has to be recognised that not everything can be done quickly and without resources, although some can. It is also the case that no one group has sole responsibility to bring about improvement.
