Only die-hard baseball fans are familiar with more than a few of the players who were taken in last week's baseball draft. But all fans are a year closer to seeing many of the top picks from 2006 in major league uniforms. In fact, three first-round picks have already made their big league debuts, and third-rounder Joe Smith has thrived as a reliever with the Mets.

Twelve months after the draft, a quick progress report on the 2006 first-round picks shows many are on the fast track to the majors while others have encountered roadblocks.
