Taipei, Aug. 3 -- China may submit a new resolution to the United Nations (UN) to block Taiwan's bid to rejoin the world body, a newspaper reported Friday.
The Liberty Times quoted Taiwan intelligence sources as saying that China may be planning to submit a new resolution to the UN to amend the drawbacks of Resolution 2758, under which the UN expelled Taiwan to accept China in 1971.
Taiwan's President Chen Shui-bian sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon July 20 to demand UN membership for Taiwan. Ban rejected the application, citing Resolution 2758.
