In the 2006 Forecast, the key barriers to adoption of color-accurate monitors, or virtual proofing, were detailed. This article will provide an update on the status of virtual proofing and address the most important issue-integrating virtual proofing into existing digital workflows.
The IPA 2006 Proofing RoundUP (www.ipa.org) demonstrated in an independent, comprehensive analysis of twenty-nine color proofing systems from thirteen companies, including hard and virtual proofing, that the systems are capable of matching color based only on the numbers from a supplied IT8.7/34 target, without a visual reference.
