Article: WORK CONTINUES ON ENERGY INDEPENDENCE ACT

The Democratic majority in the Maine State Senate issued the following news release:

The Utilities Committee, Wednesday, will continue work on the Energy Independence Act, sponsored by Senator Phil Bartlett, D-Cumberland County.

One of the major roles of the bill will be to make the Office of Energy Independence a stand-alone office within the Executive Department. The creation of the stand-alone department would move the formulation, coordination and management of state energy policies for the purpose of increasing Maine's energy independence.
