THE South Beach Casino on the Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation had its one-millionth visitor a week ago yesterday -- a remarkable achievement for a facility that almost didn't get built.

South Beach earned profits of more than $7 million in the fiscal year ending in March on total revenue of more than $30 million. The seven first nations that are partners in the venture have to date received almost $400,000 each in dividends.
