Kenbe Alada: Supporting the Pillars of Heaven

Unlike other essays in this journal, I have chosen to submit a testimonial on Haitian Vodou. While my previous writings were driven by a need to prove that the tenets of Vodou are capable tools of critical analysis, this essay will bring insight to why an eleventh generation Dahomien, Haitian-born African in the Americas of Cuban descent, chose to embrace a tradition that has historically been vilified or deemed no longer useful in the urbanized global ghettos of the twenty-first century.
