Article: Safety top concern at Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute conference

When it comes to coal mining, the issue of safety is always a topic for concern. Such was the case at the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute's (RMCMI) Annual Meeting in Copper Mountain, CO June 24-26.

While conference attendees listened to a host of distinguished speakers lecture on topics that included safety, production, relationships with the railroads, the looming workforce shortage, the environment, motivation, dust control, coal's image and the future of the coal industry, teams of mine rescue personnel sharpened their skills in a series of evaluated exercises near the foot of Copper Mountain's ski slopes.
