The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets issued the following news release:

Opening Ceremonies on Chevrolet Court Stage

* New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker and New York State Fair Director Dan O'Hara will open the 161st New York State Fair with an opening ceremony focusing around the traditional core of the State Fair, agriculture.

* Numerous youth from the 4-H and FFA will be recognized for their important role in continuing the Fair's rich agricultural heritage.

* In addition, the late Dr. Robert Baker, creator of the chicken nugget and proprietor of Baker's Chicken Coop on the fairgrounds, will be honored for his work by Cornell University ...
