NEW DELHI, India, Aug. 25 -- THE UNION Government has allocated Rs 400 crore for reconstruction of roads, embankments and bridges damaged by the recent flood. Joint secretary in the Union Government K Skandan and Joint Secretary home AK Raina directed the district magistrate to immediately start the reconstruction work.
Earlier, talking to mediapersons, Skandan the Centre was sincerely working for a permanent solution to check damage and destruction caused by floods in eastern UP.
He said after inking agreements with concerned nations on proposed projects to check flood havoc, the damage could be restricted. He said the government had designed a long-term plan to check recurrence of floods.
