Not everyone who walks into Walt's Barber Shop is there for a haircut. Some come to chat, to tell stories and gossip, or just to grumble about prices for cattle and wheat.

Walt Lagge started barbering 42 years ago, back when a haircut cost $1.50. When he got out of the Army in 1955, he thought he might become a plumber, but the class was full so he picked barber school. And, he's glad he did, it's cleaner work. He's worn a tie and a pressed shirt every day he's gone to work.
