The First Lady of Tanzania, Madame Salma Kikwete lead a successful trip to the United States last month. Within the space of several months, Mama Kikwete has ensured Tanzania will be represented in one of the world's pre-eminent cultural events - the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Tanzania's inclusion in the 2009 Festival will be the first by an East African country and will be sure to increase American interest in Tanzanian culture, tourism, agricultural exports, history and crafts.
