LEBANON COUNTY
A Lebanon County manufacturer is producing a wood sealant that could give Central Pennsylvania a blueberry hue.
The additive is called BluWood, a protectant that turns wood a medium shade of blue. It protects house-framing lumber from moisture, rot, mold, mildew and termite infestation, proponents said.
Smart Wood Solutions of Boca Raton, Fla., invented BluWood. Mid-Atlantic BluWood Inc. produces the product in Lebanon. Smart is Mid-Atlantic's parent company. Mid-Atlantic co-owner Dick Price said he believes mid-state residents will frame houses with the lumber when they find out how well it performs.
"We guarantee BluWood for the life of a house," Price said.
