Article: WEST NILE VIRUS DETECTED IN CLATSOP COUNTY

The Clatsop County government issued the following news release:

Clatsop County Health and Human Services has been notified that a bird collected last week has tested positive for the West Nile Virus (WNV). This is the first detection of the WNV in Clatsop County.

Public health officials in Clatsop County are anticipating the possibility of additional cases of WNV. The public is encouraged to report recently dead Corvid birds to Clatsop County Health and Human Services at (503) 325-8500. Corvids are large birds such as crows, jays, or magpies that are highly susceptible to the WNV.
