PALO ALTO CITY LIBRARY JOINS SILICON VALLEY READS 2008

The city of Palo Alto issued the following news release:

The Palo Alto City Library will participate in the county-wide Silicon Valley Reads 2008 program, which promotes reading and literacy and builds a sense of community though discussion among widely diverse readers. Readers throughout Santa Clara County will read the same book, at the same time, and discuss it.

The 2008 program selection is The Distant Land of My Father by Bo Caldwell of Cupertino. The novel, a story of betrayal and reconciliation set in Shanghai on the eve of World War II, chronicles the experiences of an expatriate American couple and their young daughter.
