Article: Texas Inventors Develop Network Adapter Failover Facilitating System

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 26 -- Omar Cardona and James Brian Cunningham, both of Austin, Texas, and Shouchun Li of Round Rock, Texas, have developed an apparatus for high-speed network adapter failover.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the invention relates to a "method, apparatus, and computer instructions for facilitating failover between network adapters. A failure of a first network adapter is detected in a device driver layer. In response to detecting the failure, the transmission of data is changed by the device driver layer to a second network adapter."

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,275,175 on Sept. 25.
