A Calgary Stampede showcase depicting a female First Nations doll dressed in western attire and slumped over an alcohol bottle has resulted in management of the facility responsible for the display offering staff cultural sensitivity workshops.
"The display was an example of poor judgement on the part of staff," said Lynne Koziey, communications manager for Carewest George Boyack care centre.
A linen-supply worker complained about the Native-themed showcase featuring an Aboriginal female sitting in a tub beside a tipi with an alcohol bottle in her hands.
