Article: SELF-EMPLOYED FARMERS HAVE BETTER ACCESS TO FAMILY HEALTH PLUS

Assemblyman David R. Townsend Jr., R-Kirkland (115th District), issued the following press release:

Assemblyman Dave Townsend (R,C,I,WF-Sylvan Beach) announced that legislation, which he supported, providing self-employed farmers with greater access to Family Health Plus, has been passed by both the Assembly and Senate.

"Farm families who didn't qualify for Family Health Plus prior to this legislation can now remove the depreciation of business assets from existing income eligibility requirements and extend their benefits," said Townsend. "Because of the agricultural industry's recent economic difficulties, we need to ensure that farmers have access to affordable health care."
