In light of recent events where Con Edison mismanaged multiple disasters, most recently the midtown steam pipe explosion, Assemblyman Michael Gianaris (D-Queens) proposed significant reforms of Con Edison to make the utility more accountable.

"How many disasters will Con Edison preside over before we realize the need to reform this unaccountable monopoly?" asked Assemblyman Gianaris (D-Queens). "Until Con Edison faces consequences for its failures, we can expect continued catastrophes to occur year after year."
