Study shows obese diabetics benefit from nasal mask to open airway, resolve infarcts
Philadelphia-Obstructive sleep apnea appears to be a significant, previously unrecognized aggravating factor in diabetic retinopathy that promotes progression of ischemia and edema, according to Stephen Sinclair, MD, clinical professor, Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Dr. Sinclair described the sleep disorder and its effect in a population of patients with diabetes. He said that incidence of diabetes has increased and the characteristics of patients with diabetes have changed in the past 10 years.
